After graduating from St. Thomas in January 1957, I went to St. Francis
Prep High School, and then worked in the New York Stock Exchange briefly
before enlisting in the Army in 1962. I served in a missile battalion
for three years and after being discharged I attended and graduated
from William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, with a BS degree
in Criminal Justice. I have been a police officer for 38 years, serving
as chief of police for the last 18 years in the northern New Jersey
town I’ve made home for the past 40 years. My wife, Dorothy, a
journalist, and I, have three children, Linda, a stay-at-home mom; Andrew,
director of the annual fund at a local university; and Jennifer, an
elementary school teacher. Linda and her husband have two children;
Andrew and his wife are expecting their first child, and Jennifer and
her husband have a two-year-old son, and are expecting their second
child. I’m planning to retire from the police department in two
years and am looking forward to enjoying our growing number of wonderful
grandchildren and continuing my theological studies, with an eye toward
possibly teaching part-time in the future. |
